Can You Sew Dog And Pet Clothes? Pet clothes can be necessary, silly, or kind of fun. Hairless dogs, for example, may really need some extra protective outer wear, like dog snuggies, in a cold climate. Lots of us are turning down the heat, these days, to save energy. If we get chilly, we can put on a sweater. You may also need to wrap up your pet! Finding the right dog accessory can be a big challenge though. You will need pet clothes that are comfortable, won’t annoy your pet, and can be easilly cleaned. If you live in an area with a wide temperature variation, you may even need more than one type. You may want to buy suitable protection for spring and fall, winter, and inside. Your selection of pet garments may be seriously limited if you try to shop in pet stores. Specialty shops, or even craft fairs, can be good sources of sweaters or costumers, but they are probably pricy. If you purchase outwear at a large retailer, or even online, some of these specialty goods can get expensive. When you add the cost to the expense of vet bills, food, etc., you may find [...]

Can You Make Cheaper Cleaning Products At Home? Big companies sure do spend a lot of money advertising why their brand A is better than brand X. As somebody who has watched these ads evolve, and then pretty much stay the same, for decades, I have to wonder if there is anything that special about most cleaning products that add quite a bit to my grocery store bill. Also, our past article about grocery store pool supplies is popular several months after we published it. I have to think that consumers are starting to wonder if they pay too much for brand names, nice packages, and labels. Cleaning Products You Can Make For Less Money Note that when we give measurements, you can always adjust the recipe size. It will be helpful to invest in some nice containers to keep your new budget friendly cleaning supplies in too! We decided to share dry recipes, because they are easier to store. If you would rather have your cleaning product in a liquid form, add in another cup of hot water, stir well, and store it in a water tight container. With these home made recipes, a little seems to go a [...]

Do You Have One Of Those Toilets? Well, toilets are one thing we would rather not discuss too much, and I have already posted a quick tip about unclogging a toilet with no commercial product. And while I have had some fairly positive feedback for that tip, apparently it does not do the job 100% of the time. And we really need to aim for success! OK, so you walk in the the bathroom, and you see that one of your kids, your signifigant other, or of course the mysterious “somebody else”, have left a nasty mess. What do you do? If the bowl is not really full, you try to flush it once, and only once. Try the cold bucket or water. You need to strike a balance between pouring it in quickly, and not overflowing the top. Try a plunger. We find that those larger plungers you can find these days work better than the really small ones. We even named ours… Big Bob… like he was part of the family.
